Eskimo 17 CRX 3G HV

John McCubbin, California
"... I wish to express my admiration for
such a well designed and superbly constructed kayak. Not only are
the components of the highest caliber and the craftsmanship 'top-drawer',
but this whole system (kayak) is so well thought out. I truly love
this versatile watercraft. It provides me so much pleasure, and
as you may remember, versatility was important to me. I like the
simple joys of paddling and camping, and it was important that the
kayak provide DRY movement of me and ALL my camping equipment.
Eskimo 17 HV does this superbly -- well beyond my expectations...
I also enjoy sailing, and this kayak is an excellent sailboat. This
built-in feature is easily one of Easy Rider's biggest selling points.
I have taken my kayak sailing on many of the lakes here in Northern
California -- Tahoe being one of them. And I have plied many of
the waters of Puget Sound.
While learning to sail, I have placed myself and this kayak in some
stressful situations as I tested its handling, limitations, and
idiosyncracies. At no time have I ever felt this kayak would let
me down. When properly rigged and trimmed, this is a very safe and
seaworthy boat! What I like most, is its 'set-and-forget' sailing
ability. It holds a course very well. After I've trimmed the sails
and leeboards, I just lean back and enjoy the cruise. Now I look
forward to sailing the tricky waters of San Francisco Bay, and going
from Santa Cruz to Monterey -- straight across the bay... The boat
moves like a bat-out-of-hell when the wind gets up past 10-15 knots.
You have provided me with as much enjoyment as a person can handle...
a superb boat and tons of fun!"

"... My world of kayaking has been changed
forever...
On a recent trip to Seattle, I participated in one of Easy Rider's
Saturday morning kayak outings. I had told Peter the previous day
that my dream kayak was his Eskimo 17 CRX 3G HV, and there it was
sitting gracefully on the dock begging me to climb aboard... The only
problem, or so I thought, was that it was fully rigged with an Outrigger
and an Airfoil Sail! I have NEVER sailed in my life and was hesitant
to say the least.
After some gentle words of encouragement and a few quick instructions,
I was actually sitting in a sailing craft ready to go. I slowly paddled
into the wind, set my sail and was off, zipping across the lake. For
half an hour I sailed... I mean, I SAILED! I couldn't believe I was
doing it or how exciting it was and how much fun I had... When I landed
back in San Francisco, my friends kept asking me, 'What in the world
are you smiling about?'... I've been smiling for two days... Dennis
Conner, watch out!!!"
