The outrigger arm (aka) attaches to the canoe rails behind the bow paddler.
It is made of 1 x 4.5 x 7 select-grain wood.

Installation - Option #1
The simplest method of installing the 4.5-foot outrigger is to attach
oar locks to the outside of the gunwales and then bolt the outrigger arm
to the oar locks. Fasten the oar locks to the outside of the canoe rails
(behind the bow seat). Installation - Option

An outrigger thwart can be permanently attached to the inside of the
canoe gunwales. The outrigger arm (aka) then is bolted to the outrigger
thwart (using 5/16 carriage bolts).
Outrigger Attachment
The 4.5-foot Outrigger (ama) features two pre-threaded stainless-steel
anchor plates, permanently bonded to the inside top of the outrigger.
The outrigger arm attaches to the outrigger with four stainless-steel
bolts (1/4 x 20 x 1 1/4).
Outrigger Ballast #2080
5-pound lead pellets in waterproof vinyl bag, fits through 4 outrigger
porthole. Use Ballast with single outrigger system.
Double Outrigger System
The outrigger arm (aka) can be centered on the canoe allowing for the
attachment of two outriggers. |
